The streaming mode (FIFO mode) of SBench 6 allows to reach the limits of the hardware when storing data continuously to hard disk. A RAID 0 array of hard disks or SSDs is recommended.
SBench 6 supports different streaming file formats which can all be written with full speed. Using pure binary or wave file format allows to directly access the data with 3rd party user programs without the need to do a file conversion before.
A nice feature is the improved split file function. Streaming data can be written to one large file or to a number of smaller files. If needed by operating system and file system limitations one can simply define the file size. A more powerful access is to define the split file size by the number of samples or in case of segmented acquisition by the number of segments. That makes it easy to find the data later on in the files.
Auto storage of data
If acquiring data in single shots, a powerful feature is the auto storage mode. In here each acquisition is automatically stored into a new file to hard disk. Using the auto storage mode one never misses an acquisition and has the complete history at hand and stored safely.
